How a CNC job works
Post the job once, compare maker quotes, and the payment is held until you confirm the work was delivered.
From file to finished part
- Post your jobAttach a DXF, SVG, AI or PDF (or a dimensioned sketch), name the material and thickness, the finished size, the quantity, the date you need it, and a budget range.
- Compare makersMakers reply with a price and a lead time. Check their machine (router bed size, plasma table), past jobs and reviews, and ask about bit size, tabs or finishing before you pick.
- Accept and payPay the maker's quote by card through Stripe. The platform holds it and releases it to the maker once you confirm the work was delivered.
- Check the work, then releaseThe maker can post photos of the cut or carved parts in the app. Measure them against your file on arrival or at pickup; confirming delivery releases the payment.
Router or plasma, one part or a full sheet.
Homeowners, Etsy sellers, breweries, cabinet builders and event planners: one brief, several makers bidding, payment held until the work arrives. Own a CNC router or plasma table? List it free, set your own machine-hour rate, and quote on local jobs.
Post your job →Machines are getting cheaper. Demand isn't slowing.
Market figures are industry estimates for CNC router machines (Grand View Research, CNC Router Machine Market Report, accessed October 2026).
Why post here instead of messaging shops one at a time
Paid only after delivery
You pay when you accept a quote. The platform holds the money until the work reaches you and you confirm delivery.
The right machine bids
Router shops for wood, MDF, HDU and plastics; plasma tables for steel art and brackets. Compare price, lead time, reviews and past jobs before you choose.
No buyer fee
The maker's quote is the price you pay; the platform adds no buyer fee.
Reviews tied to orders
Ratings only come from completed orders, so you're reading feedback from buyers who actually got parts cut.
Only a sketch or a photo?
Post the drawing as part of the job. Makers who offer design can turn it into a clean toolpath-ready file, billed as design time.
Run a CNC yourself?
List your router or plasma table free, with no listing fee. Set your own machine-hour rate and pay a commission only on completed jobs.
Every job on The Spool List is a written scope: file version, material, thickness, finished size, quantity, finish and deadline. That's what the maker is bidding on, and what you check the work against before you confirm delivery.
On bigger jobs the maker can post milestone photos in the app (first part off the machine, full sheet cut, painted sign) so you see progress before it ships. Payment is released once, when you confirm delivery.
If parts arrive the wrong size, cut from the wrong sheet, or the carving doesn't match the approved proof, the dispute process reviews the file, the scope and the photos. A DM to a stranger can't give you that.
